Great fun at parties, this word guessing game, challenges players to come up with creative, carefully worded clues to get your team mate to guess the word and fast.

Players

Between 4 and 10 players. Players will divide into two equal teams.

Resources

  • Deck of Taboo cards
  • Timer

Goal/Objective

To be the team that collects the most cards.

Setup

Set the stack of Taboo cards in the middle of both teams, face down.

Game Mechanics

  1. Choose which team will go first.
    1. One person on the playing team will be selected as the "card giver"
    2. The "card giver" will describe a word or phrase on the card, without using one of the "taboo" (commonly used) words to describe the word.
    3. The rest of the players on the team will try to guess the word
    4. If the players correctly guess the word, they will score the card.
  2. Teams will have 2-minutes to guess as many cards as they can.
  3. If the "card giver" accidentally says one of the taboo cards or if time runs out it is the next team's turn.
  4. The steps repeats until everyone on the team has had a chance being the "card giver".

Outcome

After everyone on each team has had a chance at being the "card giver" or after a set amount of time defined by the teams, the cards for each team are counted. The team with the most cards win.
