Battleship

Overview

Battleship is a classic game of naval combat in which two players use observation, and inductive reasoning to determine the location of their opponent's warship and skin them.

It is thought that battleship's origins come form the French game L'Attaque played during World War I.In 1931 the Starex company released the game Salvo, which is considered the first commercial version of Battleship. Throughout the 1930's and 1940's many other publishers released similar games including Milton Bradley's Broadsides.

The iconic version of Battleship using plastic boards and pegs was published in 1967 and conceived by Ed Hutchins. In 1979 Battleship went on to be one of the earliest games to be produced as a computer game.

    1. If the opponent's ship is located within that grid, the opponent will respond with "hit" and place an "X" on their player's grid. The player should mark an "x" on that space for their opponent's grid.
    2. If the opponent's ship is not located within the grid, then will respond with "miss".The player should mark an "0" on that space for their opponent's grid.
  2. If all spaces of a ship are hit, then that ship has been sunk and the player should respond with "You sunk my battleship".

Outcomes

The first player to loose all their ships will loose the game.
